Ten employers ordered to pay MPF non-payments

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

     The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (December 19) pursued 10 claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for about $130,000 on behalf of 60 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     Bo Kam Hung formerly trading as Wiu Fai Construction Company, did not dispute the amount claimed. The Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA$41,158.02, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The other nine defendants, Chan Lai Ping trading as The Prospect Garment FTY, Action Link Investment Limited trading as Sun Bo Seafood Restaurant, Clover Manufacturers Asia Limited, Continental Dragon Cleaning Services Limited, Best Wealth Enterprise Limited trading as Delight Restaurant, Z's Health Agency Limited, Group Idea Limited trading as Great Shanghai Yap Pan Heung Restaurant, Fortune Honest Holdings Limited trading as Sam Mun Tsai Fusion and Ma Ting Chiu and Chan Mak Sui trading as VIP Management Company, did not appear at today's hearing. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $44,582.03, $30,324, $27,569.96, $13,147, $9,055.10, $4,683, $3,890.09, $3,337.34 and $1,017, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The Adjudicator further ordered the respective defendants to pay costs of $240, $170, $120, $110, $80, $90, $176, $198, $208 and $90.
