Unlicensed food factory in Fanling raided

     The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) this morning (December 4) raided an unlicensed food factory at Stall 38, Cheung Wah Estate Market, Fanling, and seized about 400 kilogrammes of pork and some paraphernalia.

     A man arrested during the operation is assisting investigations.

     Under the Food Business Regulation, the maximum penalty for operating an unlicensed food factory is a fine of $50,000 and six months' imprisonment.

     "We will continue to take stringent enforcement action against unlicensed food businesses to safeguard food safety and public health," an FEHD spokesman said.

     "People should report such illegal activities through the department's hotline at 2868 0000."
