The 2008 Edition of the Hong Kong Annual Digest of Statistics is published by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) today (November 28).
The Digest is a comprehensive and convenient collection of official statistics. It contains some 300 statistical tables on a wide range of topics, including :

This publication aims to provide detailed annual statistical series on various aspects of the social and economic developments of Hong Kong. Most of the data are presented in respect of 7 years: the most recent 6 years and the last 11th year. This facilitates readers to compare the developments over the recent years and the 10-year or two 5-year intervals in the past. Descriptions of the scope and nature of the statistical data together with definitions of the terms and explanations of the concepts used in this Digest are provided in the "Concepts and Definitions" part in each chapter.

Print version of the publication is available for sale at HK$164 per issue. The Hong Kong Annual Digest of Statistics is one of the general statistical digests compiled by C&SD. Other digests include Hong Kong Economic Trends (half-monthly), Hong Kong Monthly Digest of Statistics and Hong Kong Social and Economic Trends (biennial). These digests bring together statistical data which cover a wide range of topics relating to the society, economy and businesses of Hong Kong. Each having its own features, these digests are published at different frequencies with statistical data series presented in various length, depth and formats. Complementing each other, they together form a comprehensive series for reference.
