In response to media enquiries about Hong Kong residents stranded in Bangkok, a spokesman for the Security Bureau today (November 27) gave the following reply:
"In addition to the recent travel advices issued by the Security Bureau, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government has been keeping a close liaison with the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in Hong Kong, the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, as well as the tourist trade, in closely monitoring the situation in Thailand. We are providing every practical assistance to Hong Kong residents in need of help.
The HKSAR Government is having discussions with the airlines concerned to see if they can arrange special flights to take residents stranded in Bangkok back to Hong Kong. Announcement will be made as soon as practicable."
