The Secretary for Security, Mr Ambrose S K Lee, started his visit to Seoul today (November 24) updating his South Korean counterparts on the latest developments in Hong Kong, particularly the law and order situation.
On the first day of his visit in Seoul, Mr Lee met the Minister of Public Administration and Security, the Hon Won Sei-hoon, and the Commissioner General of the Korean National Police Agency, Mr Eo Cheong-soo.
Mr Lee said that despite the present economic downturn, Hong Kong's law and order situation remained stable and the crime rate had not shown significant changes. He added that Hong Kong's law enforcement agencies would stay vigilant and the Hong Kong SAR Government would do all it could to boost the local economy and create more jobs.
Mr Lee told the senior South Korean officials that law enforcement agencies of Hong Kong and South Korea had all along been working closely on all fronts, especially on police, customs and immigration matters.
He looked forward to closer co-operation and liaison among law enforcement agencies of the two places in future.
