CE arrives in Lima for APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting

     The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, arrived in Lima, Peru, today (November 21, Lima time) to attend the 16th Economic Leaders・ Meeting of Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC).

     The current financial crisis will be a major topic of discussion at this year・s APEC meeting.

     Mr Tsang will attend the APEC CEO Summit in the afternoon at which President Hu Jintao will deliver a keynote address on China・s sustainable development.

     Tomorrow (November 22, Lima time), the Chief Executive will have a packed schedule. Before speaking at the Summit Dialogue on Trade and Investment of the CEO Summit, he will have breakfast with President Hu Jintao to update him on Hong Kong・s latest economic, social and political development.

     In the afternoon, Mr Tsang will attend the APEC Economic Leaders・ Meeting and exchange views with members of APEC Business Advisory Council on a wide range of subjects, including the global financial crisis, high food and commodity prices, WTO Doha Development Agenda negotiations, regional economic integration, climate change, corporate social responsibility, as well as human security issues.

     The Chief Executive will also hold bilateral meeting with Singapore.

     Mr Tsang will return to Hong Kong on November 25. During his absence, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, will be Acting Chief Executive.
