The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, met the British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Mr David Miliband, in London this (November 20, London time) morning.
Mr Tsang updated Mr Miliband on the latest economic and political situation in Hong Kong.
They agreed that both Hong Kong and the UK, as developed economies, had a major role to play in lowering carbon emissions.
Mr Tsang then toured the Borough Market before ending his UK visit.
He was briefed about the successful transformation of the traditional fruit and vegetables market into a fashionable place for fine food product shopping, dining as well as sightseeing for both local and overseas visitors.
¡§The Hong Kong Government is striving to achieve heritage conservation and revitalization while furthering economic development. The experience of the Borough Market serves as a valuable reference,¡¨ Mr Tsang said.
The Chief Executive will arrive in Peru on November 21 (Lima time) to attend the 16th APEC Economic Leaders¡¦ Meeting.
