Secretary for Home Affairs speaks about district minor works projects

     Following is the transcript (English portion) of the Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, speaking to the media after meeting  District Council chairmen and vice-chairmen today (November 20):

Reporter: What kind of projects are you talking about?  When will these projects be launched?  How many jobs will be created?

Secretary for Home Affairs: They are minor works mainly in the field of upgrading sports facilities, cultural facilities and beautification of the districts.  We will encourage 18 districts to begin these projects as soon as possible. According to our calculation, the minor works in the pipeline in December will create around 700 jobs.

Secretary for Home Affairs: We decided to promote it, to make it faster in light of the economic situation.
