The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (November 13) pursued one claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $800 on behalf of two employees, who were owed surcharges on MPF contributions by their employer.
At the tribunal's hearing today, the defendant, Zishan Haider formerly trading as One Enterprise, did not appear. In its absence, the Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sum of $868, being surcharges on mandatory contributions payable.
The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as it received by the MPFA. The tribunal also ordered the defendant to pay $60 as costs in respect of the claim.
