The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, today (November 12) met Hong Kong entrepreneurs in Dongguan to learn more about their plight amid the current financial crisis.
Mr Tsang visited a metalware factory in Feng Gang Town, Dongguan, in the afternoon. Established in 1977, the Hong Kong enterprise has more than 1,000 employees.
Mr Tsang then met around 20 representatives of Hong Kong enterprises operating in the Pearl River Delta to better understand the difficulties they now face.
In the morning, the Chief Executive also had a working breakfast with leaders of the five main local chambers of commerce in Hong Kong to listen to their views.
"Affected by the global credit crunch and economic downturn, many Hong Kong enterprises on the Mainland are facing the risk of closing down. The Government is highly concerned and has all along maintained close contacts with the operators. We have been liaising closely with the Central Government as well as the relevant departments to devise appropriate measures," Mr Tsang said.
