The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Edward Yau, today (November 11) continued his official visit to Canberra, Australia.
This morning, Mr Yau called on the Federal Minister for the Environment, Heritage and the Arts, Mr Peter Garrett to exchange views on environmental protection.
He was then briefed by federal officials on green initiatives being studied in Canberra, including ˇ§Ban the Bulbˇ¨ and ˇ§Green Building and Industry Partnership Programmeˇ¨.
Mr Yau also called on the Chinese Ambassador to Australia, Mr Zhang Junsai.
This afternoon, Mr Yau met Professor Ross Garnaut, Distinguished Professor, the Australian National University and Head of Climate Change Review 2007-08 to hear his views on the science of climate change, the impacts of climate change on the economy and the design of an emissions trading scheme.
Mr Yau will leave for Melbourne this evening.
