The government announced today (October 31) that the Chief Executive has re-appointed the chairman and members of the Process Review Panel for the Securities and Futures Commission (PRP) for two years from November 1, 2008, to October 31, 2010.
"We are grateful for the time and efforts the chairman and members of the Panel have devoted over the past years to reviewing and advising the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) on the adequacy of the SFC's internal procedures and operational guidelines," a government spokesman said.
The PRP is an independent body established in November 2000. It reviews the SFC's internal operation procedures, including its licensing, investigative and disciplinary procedures and listing-related matters, to ensure that they are fair and consistently followed. The membership represents a good mix of knowledge, experience and expertise from relevant quarters which is conducive to the effective operation of the Panel.
