The Government today (October 30) announced that Miss Margaret Fong Shun-man, formerly Commissioner for Economic and Trade Affairs, USA, will succeed Ms Au King-chi as Commissioner for Tourism on November 27.
Commenting on the appointment, the Secretary for the Civil Service, Miss Denise Yue said, "Miss Fong is a seasoned Administrative Officer with rich experience in public administration and proven leadership and management skills. I have every confidence that she will continue to serve the community with professionalism and dedication in her new capacity, and ably lead her colleagues to meet the challenges ahead."

Aged 45. Miss Fong joined the Administrative Service in August 1985 and rose to her present rank of Administrative Officer Staff Grade A in April 2008.
Miss Fong has served in various bureaus and departments, including the former Administrative Services and Information Branch, the former City and New Territories Administration, the former Government House, the former Finance Branch, the former Constitutional Affairs Branch and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Washington. She was Deputy Secretary for Transport (later retitled Deputy Secretary for Environment, Transport and Works (Transport)) from October 1999 to June 2004, and Director-General, Hong Kong Economic and Trade Affairs, Washington from August 2004 to July 2006. She was Commissioner for Economic and Trade Affairs, USA from July 2006 to October 2008.
