Modern dance meets French poetry
********************************

"Love Sick", a modern dance work inspired by the French Symbolist poet Stˆmphane Mallarmˆm, will be on stage in Hong Kong next month (November). The Artistic Director of Unlock Dancing Plaza, Ong Yong Lock, works with stage performer Kearen Pang, dancers Lim Wei Wei and Flora Hon in the creation. Renowned local dancer Yuri Ng will be the set and costume designer.

Inspired by Stˆmphane Mallarmˆm's poem "The Afternoon of Faun", this romantic performance is about three women, wearing high heel shoes, who go for a treasure hunt in the Love Jungle. They find a crystal ball, which is actually the faun in disguise. They scream and jump with joy until a real man emerges from the crystal ball when the women's faces begin to change.

Unlock Dancing Plaza, formed in 2002 by Ong Yong Lock and Elsie Chau, is keen to liberate the art form from stage constraints and emphasises the openness of space and direct communication between the performer and the audience. The company collaborates with artists from different disciplines in order to search for the intricacies of life and beyond. It strives to discover new ways to appreciate and experience dance.

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, "Love Sick" by Unlock Dancing Plaza will be staged at 8 pm on November 28 and 29 (Friday and Saturday) at the Auditorium, HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity. Tickets priced at $120 and $160 are now available at URBTIX outlets.
