The Government today (October 24) published a notice in the Gazette on retrofitting of noise barriers along Tai Wo Road from Chui Lok Street to Lam Tsuen River to mitigate traffic noise.
The proposed works include construction of approximately 380 metres of cantilevered noise barriers, vertical noise barriers and semi-enclosures along the central divider and the verges of the above section of Tai Wo Road; temporary closure and reinstatement of sections of the existing carriageways, footpaths, cycle tracks and sitting-out area; and ancillary works such as provision of temporary traffic diversion, traffic aids and street lighting.
The works are scheduled to start in mid 2010 for completion at the end of 2012.
The plan and scheme of the works are available for public inspection at the following government offices during office hours:
(i) Central and Western District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Unit 5, G/F, The Center, 99 Queen¡¦s Road Central;
(ii) Tai Po District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, G/F, Tai Po Government Offices, 1 Ting Kok Road, Tai Po; and
(iii) District Lands Office, Tai Po, 1st Floor, Tai Po Government Offices, 1 Ting Kok Road, Tai Po.
Any person who wishes to object to the proposed works or the use, or both, should write to the Secretary for Transport and Housing, 16th Floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong, on or before December 23.
