Retrofitting of noise barriers on Sha Tin Road gazetted

     The Government today (October 17) published a notice in the Gazette on the retrofitting of noise barriers on Sha Tin Road near City One Shatin and Belair Gardens to mitigate traffic noise.

     The proposed works include constructing approximately 640 metres of vertical noise barriers, cantilevered noise barriers and full enclosure along the above section of Sha Tin Road; temporary closure and resurfacing/reinstatement or permanent closure and re-provision of sections of the existing carriageways, footpaths and cycle tracks; and ancillary works such as provision of temporary traffic diversion, traffic aids and street lighting.

     The works are scheduled to start in early 2010 for completion in end 2012.

     The plan and scheme of the works are available for public inspection at the following government offices during office hours:

(i)  Central and Western District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Unit 5, G/F, The Center, 99 Queen¡¦s Road Central;

(ii) Sha Tin District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, G/F, Sha Tin Government Offices, 1 Sheung Wo Che Road, Sha Tin; and

(iii)District Lands Office, Sha Tin, 11th Floor, Sha Tin Government Offices, 1 Sheung Wo Che Road, Sha Tin.

     Any person who wishes to object to the proposed works or the use, or both, should write to the Secretary for Transport and Housing, 16th Floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong, on or before December 16.
