The Convenor of the Non-official Members of the Executive Council, Mr Leung Chun-ying, today (October 14) issued the following statement on the change in the membership of the Executive Council (ExCo):
"I note that the Chief Executive has accepted the resignation of Mr Jasper Tsang Yok-sing from the ExCo today.
"Mr Tsang has actively participated in ExCo business over the years. He is dedicated to serving the community and has made outstanding contributions. We have high esteem for him. I trust that by assuming the post of the LegCo President, he will continue to serve the people of Hong Kong by playing a more active role in the work of LegCo.
"On behalf of all non-official Members, I would also like to extend our warmest welcome to Mr Lau Kong-wah. Mr Lau has a solid foundation in district services and is fully committed to serving the Hong Kong people in his capacity as a Legislative Councillor. I am confident that he will bring in valuable advice to the ExCo to assist the Chief Executive in policy-making."
