A delegation led by Environment Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSARG) visited the Macao Special Administrative Region (Macao SAR) today (October 10) to further promote exchanges and cooperation on the environmental front between the two places.
The HKSARG delegation comprising 10 representatives of the Environmental Protection Department and Marine Department held the first meeting with their counterparts of the Environment Council, Meteorological & Geophysical Bureau and the Maritime Administration of the Macao SAR.
Both sides have agreed to meet regularly and discussed exchange and cooperative activities to be organised shortly. These include the Eco Expo Asia and the workshop on waste and wastewater management to be held in Hong Kong in October 2008, and the Macao International Environmental Cooperation Forum and Exhibition in April 2009, etc. On formulation and implementation of environmental and sustainable development policy, there will be more interaction and collaboration between both sides.
Both sides also reached a consensus on strengthening cooperation of exchanges on environmental protection experiences and technical know-how as well as the promotion of public education.
