***********************************************************

The Government has accepted the advice of the Disaster Relief Fund Advisory Committee and approved two grants from the Disaster Relief Fund totalling $2.913 million to two relief agencies to undertake relief projects for flood victims in India.

Further to a grant of $2 million to World Vision Hong Kong earlier for emergency relief for flood victims in India, these grants take the total value of grants for victims in the disaster to $4.913 million.

Announcing the grants today (September 30), a government spokesman said that the committee hoped the two grants - one of $787,000 to Cedar Fund and another of $2,126,000 to Oxfam Hong Kong ¡V would help provide relief to flood victims in India.

¡§To ensure that the money will be used for the designated purposes, the two relief agencies have been asked to submit evaluation reports and audited accounts on the use of the grants after the relief projects have been completed,¡¨ the spokesman said.
