The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) announced today (September 25) that the processing of applications for importing poultry meat and poultry products from Thailand would resume with immediate effect.
Hong Kong suspended processing of applications in view of the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) situation in Thailand in January 2004.
"In view of Thailand regaining its HPAI free status with the World Organisation for Animal Health in April this year, the control measures taken by Thailand and the fact that there are no other cases of avian influenza reported ever since, we decide to resume processing of applications," a CFS spokesman said.
