The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
Castle Peak Hospital spokesperson announced today (24 September) that since 18 September, a total of seven patients (aged from 38 to 67) of a female ward and four staff members had presented with symptoms of fever and flu.
Seven patients are being treated under isolation. For the staff members concerned, three are now on sick leave and one resumed duty on 22 September. Their condition are stable. Viral test results of the patients are positive to Parainfluenza virus(type 3) . The hospital will continue to provide treatment to the patients and closely monitor their conditions.
All other patients in the ward concerned are under close surveillance and there will be no admission and visiting to the ward and no discharge from the related cubicle for the time being. Infection control measures of the ward concerned have already been enhanced.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
