¡@¡@The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) this morning (September 12) raided an unlicensed food factory at Stall 21, Hing Wah (I) Estate Market, Chai Wan, and seized about 235 kilogrammes of raw and cooked food, including pig carcasses, roasted pigs, BBQ pork and roasted ducks and geese.
A man was arrested and charged with operating food factory business without a licence.
Under the Food Business Regulation, the maximum penalty for operating an unlicensed food factory is a fine of $50,000 and six months' imprisonment.
"We will continue to take stringent enforcement action against unlicensed food businesses to safeguard food safety and public health," an FEHD spokesman said.
"People should report such illegal activities through the department's hotline at 2868 0000."
