The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (September 9) pursued one claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $4,700 on behalf of 11 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employer.
At the tribunal's hearing today, the defendant, Leung Yau Wing trading as Leung Yau Wing & Co., did not dispute the amount claimed. The adjudicator ordered him to pay the MPFA the sum of $4,795.71, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as it is received by the MPFA. The tribunal also ordered the defendant to pay $270 as the costs in respect of the claim.
