In response to media enquiries, the spokesperson of the New Territories East Cluster gave the following reply:
An 11-month old boy was brought by his relatives to the Accident and Emergency Department of North District Hospital at 3.51am this morning (August 30) after returning from Mainland China. He presented with symptoms of severe pneumonia and was in critical condition. After resuscitation he was transferred to the Prince of Wales Hospital for further treatment. He passed away at 5.54am.
The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
