The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (August 29) obtained three orders in the District Court against three employers for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $370,000.
The court today judgments against Marble industrial Company, Deschamps Catering Company Limited and Ever Nice Holdings Limited trading as Royal Plaza Hotpot Seafood Restaurant. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA $228,190.23, $87,581.47 and $56,813.32, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to eight, 54 and 157 employees of the defendants respectively.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court ordered the defendants to each pay costs of $930.
