| Wellington Mayor, Ms Kerry Prendergast, accompanied by the Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, Mrs Carrie Yau, toured the exhibition "Heavenly Horse - the Horse in Chinese Art and Culture" at the Hong Kong Museum of History today (August 14). The exhibition coincides with the equestrian events of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games being held in Hong Kong. Pictured are Ms Prendergast and Mrs Yau (right), appreciating an artifact from the Tang dynasty (AD618 -907), a white clay figurine of a dancing horse, unearthed from Shaanxi Province. These horses underwent long periods of training to dance to music and put on an entertaining show. This is quite similar to the dressage of today's equestrian events. |
