HA lower income tenants need not pay rent for three months

The following is issued on behalf of Housing Authority:

     Lower income families living in public rental housing (PRH) flats of the Housing Authority will not need to pay rent for the coming three months because of the Government’s rent payment initiative.

     “The Government will pay rent in August, September and October for 620,000 Housing Authority normal rent paying tenants,” a spokesman for the authority said today (July 30).

     The initiative is part of the Government’s inflation mitigation measures to support disadvantaged groups in Hong Kong.

     “Since the initiative is intended to ease the burden of lower income families, it will not apply to authority tenants paying additional rents. However, these tenants will continue to benefit from the authority’s arrangement to pass on the Government’s rates concession to its tenants for the whole year,” the spokesman said.
