People are invited to visit the Summer Youth Programme website to look at the interesting reports on facets of the activities carried out in the territory, written by young reporters under the ˇ§Voluntary Reporters Schemeˇ¨. The scheme, launched by the Home Affairs Department last year, has received a good response.
A spokesman for the Home Affairs Department said today (July 30) that based on last yearˇ¦s experience, the department had selected several dozens of activities, including orienteering and overseas exchange programmes, for reporting.
"Through interviewing people from various walks of life, youngsters will be able to broaden their horizons, enhance their confidence, as well as improving their writing and communication skills."
"It is also hoped that participants of the scheme will have a deeper understanding of the summer youth activities through reporting and help promote the messages of these activities to their peers and readers," the spokesman said.
Briefing sessions were arranged before the reporting activities for voluntary reporters during which, guidelines and information of the activities were provided.
Reports by the young reporters will be uploaded weekly onto the 2008 Summer Youth Programme newsletter at www.summeryouth.org.hk. The first issue of this year will be released tomorrow (July 31).
