The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
A spokesperson of Grantham Hospital today (July 29) announced that seven patients (aged from 38 to 83) of a male medical ward had presented with symptoms of influenza like illness since July 26. The patients are being treated under isolation and in stable condition. Viral test results of four patients are positive to Influenza A.
All other patients in the ward concerned are under close surveillance. Admission and visiting to the ward have been suspended. Infection control measures have already been reinforced, including thorough cleaning and disinfection.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
