Western Harbour Crossing maintains actual tolls
***********************************************

The franchisee of Western Harbour Crossing has announced that it will continue to offer concessions to maintain tolls at the current level, despite the new statutory tolls that were gazetted today (July 25).

"The tunnel company is entitled to increase its tolls if its actual net revenue falls short of the minimum estimated net revenue specified in the law," a spokesman for the Transport and Housing Bureau said.

"We understand the tunnel company will maintain the actual tolls for all types of vehicles at the current level. We hope that more concessions could be offered," he said.

The Western Harbour Crossing Ordinance (Chapter 436) provides for a specified toll adjustment mechanism for Western Harbour Crossing. The franchisee recently notified the Government of its decision to exercise its right to effect a statutory toll increase. The new statutory tolls were gazetted today and will take effect next Thursday (July 31). At the same time, the tunnel company would offer concessions to all types of vehicles so that current toll levels would be maintained.
