SLW visits Motor Transport Workers General Union
************************************************

The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, visited the Motor Transport Workers General Union this evening (July 22).

Mr Cheung met with the Chairman of the union, Mr Pang Kong-cheung, and more than 30 union representatives to discuss a range of labour issues, especially those relating to the motor transport trade.

Mr Cheung listened to the views of the union members and briefed them on the Government's latest efforts in protecting the rights and benefits of workers and promoting labour relations and employment services, as well as occupational safety and health.

This was part of the Secretary's latest round of liaison visits to the major labour unions.

"Through these visits, I hope to strengthen communication and co-operation with the labour sector in fostering labour relations, safeguarding employees' rights and enhancing their safety and health at work.

"I look forward to working closely with all labour unions to make our community a better place in which to live and work," Mr Cheung said.
