Chief Executive starts visit programme in Harbin (with photos)

    The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, who is in Harbin with a Hong Kong business delegation, today (July 20) visited Harbin Institute of Technology and Harbin Turbine Company Ltd.

    Founded in 1920, Harbin Institute of Technology specialises in aerospace subjects. During the visit, the delegation got a better understanding of the advantages of Heilongjiang in terms of human resources and scientific research. The business leaders had a chance to explore ways to utilise these resources with Hong Kong's marketing network to arrive at a win-win situation.

    The Chief Executive also exchanged views with some Hong Kong and local students of the Institute, and invited mainland students to pursue further studies and development in Hong Kong.

    At Harbin Turbine Company Ltd, the business delegation had a better understanding of the superiority of the equipment manufacturing industry in Heilongjiang and deliberated on how various industries in Hong Kong could effectively participate in the development and reform of state-owned enterprises.

    This was followed by a visit to a Hong Kong-owned company where the business delegation learned about the local business environment and ways to utilise the local market as well as natural and human resources to enhance their business development.

    In the evening, the business delegation attended a dinner reception hosted by Harbin Municipal Government.
