The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (July 17) obtained two orders in the District Court against two employers for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $180,000.
The District Court issued judgments against Adrian Engineering Limited and Legendfield Limited trading as Wong Shing Seafood Hot Pot Restaurant. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA $117,068.16 and $69,889.39, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 24 and 30 employees respectively.
The amounts awarded at the District Court will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court ordered the defendants to each pay costs of $930.
