SLW visits Hong Kong and Kowloon Trades Union Council

    The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, visited the Hong Kong and Kowloon Trades Union Council (TUC) this evening (July 4).

    Mr Cheung met members of the executive committee of TUC led by chairman Lee Kwok-keung and representatives of affiliated employee unions.

    At the meeting, Mr Cheung gave an update on the Government's latest efforts in protecting the rights and benefits of workers, promoting labour relations and employment services as well as occupational safety and health. A wide range of labour issues were also discussed.

    This is the secretary's fourth visit to major labour unions to strengthen communication and foster understanding.

    "I hope that the unions will work closely with the Government in promoting the well-being of our workers and making our community a better place in which to work and live," he said.
