Since the Tai Ping Theatre was closed in 1981, the owner Ms Beryl Yuen Bik-fook has dedicated her efforts to conserving the cultural artifacts of the theatre and also of her family's other businesses. In 2006 Ms Yuen confirmed the donation of more than 6,000 items to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department's Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Hong Kong Museum of History and Hong Kong Film Archive. The Donation Ceremony of Tai Ping Theatre Collection was held today (June 28) at the Heritage Museum. Meanwhile, a small-scale exhibition which features 33 artefacts of the Tai Ping Theatre collection will run at the Heritage Museum from today to July 7. The picture shows one of the exhibits - a letter from Runme Shaw of Unique Film Production Co. to Yuen Hang-kiu. Runme Shaw, the brother of Run Run Shaw, sought assistance from Yuen Hang-kiu to get famous opera singer Ma Sze-tsang to star in a film.
