Six Continuing Education Fund courses suspended
***********************************************

The Labour and Welfare Bureau announced today (June 19) that six reimbursable courses offered by the Accom Education Centre and the Hong Kong St. Perth College had been suspended from the Continuing Education Fund (CEF) with immediate effect.

The decision was made on the grounds that the two training institutions failed to comply with the conditions of approval for CEF registration.

A spokesman for the Bureau said, "The two training institutions have to inform all affected CEF applicants about the course suspension and to continue to run the registered courses for those who have enrolled.

"If the courses have not yet begun, the two training institutions must refund in full all course fees and related payments to the CEF applicants.  The two training institutions must not accept new applications and must not promote them as CEF reimbursable courses."

A list of the six CEF courses suspended is at the Annex.  The information is also available on the Office of Continuing Education Fund website (www.sfaa.gov.hk/cef/courseinfo.htm).

The spokesman stressed that the Office of Continuing Education Fund would continue monitoring CEF courses provided by training institutions. Apart from authenticating the attendance records of learners, assessment results and their claims for reimbursement, it will conduct surprise visits to course providers to ensure that the conditions of approval are fully complied with.
