A man was sentenced by Sha Tin Magistrates' Courts today (June 6) to one month's jail for assaulting a public officer and one month for obstructing public officers in performing their duties.
The jail terms will run concurrently.
A Food and Environmental Hygiene Department officer was attacked by the man while carrying out an operation against illegal hawking on Mei Tin Road, Sha Tin, on April 22.
"Use of violence against public officers is not only wrong, but also carries legal consequences," a department spokesman said.
He urged the public to co-operate with law enforcement officers in the execution of their duties.
