A spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said today (May 30) that a staff member of the department, in handling a complaint case yesterday (May 29), inadvertently e-mailed a document containing information about work injury cases to the complainant.
The document in question contains information about the work injuries of about 170 FEHD staff members. No personal data of any member of the public is involved.
"We attach great importance to the case. We have today sent letters to the staff members concerned informing them of the incident and offered our apologies. The incident has been reported to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data.
"The department has also issued a circular to all staff members asking them to handle personal data with caution and reminding them of areas that require special attention," the spokesman said.
