Results of CPC election announced

    The Education Bureau (EDB) today (April 24) announced that 21 candidates had been elected to the Council on Professional Conduct in Education under the teacher-nominated and the organisation-nominated categories.

    In the teacher-nominated category, 12 candidates were elected to the council. They are:

    Votes for the organisation-nominated category were counted today by the EDB's Principal Education Officer, Mr Wai Pui-wah, witnessed by the representative from the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, Ir Dr Lau Chi-keung, and the representative from the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Ms Georgina Chan.

    Nine candidates were elected under the following categories: Mr Peter Lau Chiu-yin (Organisations of School Heads seat); Ms Cinda Chan Shun-lai, Mr Pun Tin-chi (Teachers' Unions seats); Mr Chiu Sin-on, Mr Liu Chun-kuen, Ms Grace Tsui Wai-chuen (Subject-related Organisations seats); and Mr Larry Lam Wing-shun (Other Educational Organisations seat).

    Dr Yu Wai-bing (Teacher Education Institutions seat) and Dr Leung Ping-wa (School Groups and Sponsoring Bodies seat) were elected uncontested.

    The Permanent Secretary for Education will nominate three members, including a Principal Education Officer of the EDB and two lay members, to the council.

    The first council meeting of the new term will be held on May 15.
