Labour Department's Youth Employment Start opens

    The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, called on elites of various industries, employers, private enterprises and partners of social services to help nurture young people to pave their way for success.

    Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Youth Employment Start (Y.E.S.) of the Labour Department today (April 12), Mr Cheung added, "The new employment platform of Y.E.S., serving as a focal point, enables support and participation from the private sector and the community to provide tailor-made employment support services to youth."

    Mr Cheung said the input of government resources in youth training and employment demonstrated the Government's commitment to youth employment.  The setting up of Y.E.S. further underlined the Administration's determination to promote the employment of young people.

    He presented souvenirs to supporting organisations, sponsors and partners to thank them for their support of Y.E.S.  and encouraged people from different sectors to join in enhancing youth employment.

    The range of services and facilities offered at Y.E.S. include career assessment, career guidance, value-added training and self-employment support.  The target users of Y.E.S. are current and past trainees of the Youth Pre-employment Training Programme(YPTP) and Youth Work Experience and Training Scheme(YWETS), school leavers, youth job seekers, youth seeking alternative employment and self-employed youth aged between 15 to 29.
