Improvement works at Western Harbour Crossing Kowloon Exit gazetted

    The Government today (March 20) published a notice in the Gazette on improvement works at the Western Harbour Crossing Kowloon Exit.

    The proposed works include constructing a single lane carriageway connecting the toll plaza at the Western Harbour Crossing Kowloon Exit and its up-ramp to Jordan Road; widening the existing up-ramp to Jordan Road and constructing a bridge deck extension for two-lane carriageway over Jordan Road; constructing a covered footbridge extension with associated staircase connecting the existing footbridge and the toll plaza; provisioning two lifts, one on each side of the existing footbridge; and ancillary works including installation of traffic aids and street furniture, relocation of a covered bus stop and a bus lay-by as well as modification of traffic islands.

    Some sections of the existing amenity areas will be converted into carriageways or footpaths; some sections of the existing carriageways and footpaths will be temporarily or permanently closed, reconstructed or demolished.

    The proposed works will start in 2008 and take about 15 months to complete. They will meet traffic demands from the MTR Kowloon Station Development and improve the overall operation at the Western Harbour Crossing Kowloon Exit.

    The plan and scheme of the works are available for public inspection at the following Government Offices during office hours:

(i)  Central and Western District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Unit 5, Ground Floor, The Center, 99 Queen's Road Central;

(ii)  Yau Tsim Mong District Office, 6th Floor, Mong Kok Government Offices, 30 Luen Wan Street, Mong Kok ; and

(iii) District Lands Office, Kowloon West, 10th Floor, Yau Ma Tei Carpark Building, 250 Shanghai Street.

    Any person who wishes to object to the proposed works or the use, or both, should write to the Secretary for Transport and Housing, 16th Floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong, on or before May 19.
