People with disabilities reminded to renew registration cards
********************************************************

The Labour and Welfare Bureau today (March 17) reminded holders of registration cards for people with disabilities to apply for a new card. Cards issued between 1999 and June 2005 will be invalid after March 31.

Cardholders are encouraged to send their completed renewal application forms, together with the old cards and valid disability certifications from registered medical practitioners (in public or private practice)/allied health professionals/special schools, to the bureau's Central Registry for Rehabilitation.

New cards with photographs will be issued to applicants after verification of documents in four to six weeks.  Registration and application of the registration card are voluntary.

Details of the renewal exercise and relevant information are available at the bureau's website (www.lwb.gov.hk).  Other information concerning the registration card is outlined in the Guidance Notes for applying Registration Cards.  For enquiries, please call 2509 4891, 2509 4904 or 2509 4905.
