Fanling restaurant ordered to suspend business
**********************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Fanling to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, on ground floor, Fu Yin Building, 25 Luen On Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (March 15) to March 28, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"Last December, there were two convictions in respect of unauthorised extension of food business at the food premises.

"A total fine of $16,500 was levied and 30 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

He said the restaurant also had two convictions in August last year for storage of equipment in open space.

"A total fine of $3,000 was levied and 15 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from November 5 to 11 last year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
