The ˇ§Hong Kong Guide 2008ˇ¨, published by the Lands Departmentˇ¦s Survey and Mapping Office (SMO), is now on sale.
This new edition has been completely overhauled and refurbished to become one single volume with 376 pages of maps, indexes of places and villages, streets, estates and buildings, schools, hotels, public services, and leisure and cultural facilities. Apart from the maps, there are also photographs depicting various scenic spots in the territory.
The theme for this year is ˇ§Hong Kong Theme Shopping and Diningˇ¨, introducing to readers roads/streets with special features. For example, Flower Market Road teems with florists, Sai Kung Hoi Pong Street offers seafood, while Lockhart Road sells decor for perfect living.
Comprehensive public transportation information is also provided for readersˇ¦ convenience.
The ˇ§Hong Kong Guide 2008ˇ¨ is on sale at all SMO map sales counters at $97. Details of the counters can be browsed at www.landsd.gov.hk/mapping/en/pro&ser/outlet.htm. The new guidebook is also available at six post offices (General Post Office, Kowloon Central, Tsim Sha Tsui, Mong Kok, Kwun Tong and Tuen Mun Central), some bookstores and the Online Government Bookstore at www.bookstore.gov.hk.
