In bidding farewell to the year of the pig and welcoming the year of the rat, the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) wishes everyone in Hong Kong a healthy and prosperous Chinese New Year!
During long holidays and festive seasons, blood donations in general drop significantly and may result in tight inventories and supplies. To encourage more people to give blood during Chinese New Year and as a gesture of gratitude, the BTS will present a family of cute figurines – the Blood Group Family - to donors giving blood from February 5 to 17, 2008. The Blood Group Family consists of Type A Daddy, Type B Mummy, Type AB Son and Type O Daughter. Each charming figurine will be available to bring home to celebrate the new year while stocks last (see photo attached).
In addition, a Blood Donation cum Chinese New Year Countdown Party will be held at the Mongkok Blood Donor Centre on February 6, 2008, from 10pm to 1am. It is the first time the BTS is organising this activity. The BTS would like to invite blood donors to join it in welcoming the new year while giving blood. A festive gift will be presented to each blood donor and the God of Fortune will be there to take photos with them. In addition, all Blood Donor Centres are specially decorated for Chinese New Year. The God of Fortune will be visiting the Mongkok and Causeway Bay Blood Donor Centres on Chinese New Year's Eve and the third day of the Chinese New Year to bring good luck to blood donors.
