Three employers ordered to pay MPF non-payments

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

     The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (January 23) obtained three orders in the District Court against three employers for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $300,000.

     The court issued judgements against Reecho Engineering Company Limited, Painting International Beauty (Central) Limited and Brilliant Ascent Investment Limited trading as Sun Shine Seafood Restaurant (formerly known as Sun Rise Restaurant). The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA $160,494.26, $128,068.59 and $19,368.43, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 7, 11 and 33 employees of the defendants respectively.

     The amounts awarded at the District Court will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court further ordered the defendants each to pay costs of $930.
