Six employers ordered to pay MPF non-payments

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

     The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (January 15) pursued six claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $110,000 on behalf of nine employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     At the tribunal's hearing, Poon Ng Tang trading as Pun Kee Construction Co., did not dispute the amount claimed. The Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA $25,282.27, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The other five defendants, Supermaster Ltd, Chan Yick Wing trading as Yat Kee Metal Dealer, Inova International Company Limited, Little Dynamites Interactive Learning Centre Limited and Park World Holdings Limited, did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $47,321.08, $14,398.70, $12,240.60, $11,032.30 and  $4,549.65, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The tribunal further ordered the respective defendants to pay costs of $120, $220, $220, $96, $96 and $100.
