Civil Aid Service on recruitment drive until end of January (with photos)
************************************************************

People who love to challenge themselves with action-packed programmes while serving the community are invited to join the Civil Aid Service (CAS), which provides civil support services during emergencies. The recruitment drive, now under way, is on until January 31.

CAS is a uniformed and disciplined auxiliary service which works closely with other full-time disciplinary forces in undertaking a wide range of emergency duties.

CAS adult members are trained to perform emergency duties during natural disasters such as typhoons, flooding and landslips. They play a vital role in search and rescue operations such as finding hikers in distress or victims trapped under collapsed buildings or buried in landslips. They also help combat vegetation fires and oil pollution at sea.

People aged 16 or above, who are permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, speak fluent Cantonese and read Chinese, are welcome to apply for enrolment. Applicants under the age of 18 should attach his/her parent or guardian's written consent to their applications.

The recruit selection procedures will include physical fitness and functional tests. For further details, please refer to the CAS website (http://www.cas.gov.hk).

Completed enrolment forms should be submitted to Records Office, 4/F, CAS Headquarters, 8 To Wah Road, Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon, by January 31, 2008.

The enrolment form (CAS 17 (Rev. 2007)) can be obtained through the CAS website. Enquiries can be made at telephone 3651 9376 or 3651 9375, or by fax at 2576 3021 and email at casenq@cas.gov.hk.
