A light goods vehicle driver was killed in a traffic accident in Sai Kung early this morning (December 31).
Shortly after 1am, the 46-year-old light goods vehicle driver was travelling along Hoi Ha Road toward Hoi Ha. The vehicle lost control and rammed into a tree on the roadside about two kilometres away from Pak Tam Road.
The driver was trapped inside the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. He was rescued by firemen and rushed to Tseung Kwan O where he was certified dead at 3.13am.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team, Traffic, Kowloon East are under way.
