The Government has made the following re-appointments and new appointments to the management committee of the Consumer Legal Action Fund for a term of two years with effect from December 6, 2007:
Ms Amanda Liu Lai-yun
Mr Anthony Chan Kin-keung, SC
Ms Angela Lee Wai-yin, JP, BBS
Ms Mon-in Ung
"We are grateful to Ms Liu and Mr Chan for agreeing to continue to serve on the management committee. We are confident that with the new members, the management committee will continue to manage the fund efficiently and in a manner that best serves the public's interests," a government spokesman said.
"We are also grateful to the retiring members, Mr Larry Kwok, JP, and Mr Leung Lit-on for their contribution to the work of the management committee," the spokesman added.
The Consumer Legal Action Fund was established in 1994 to provide financial assistance to consumers wishing to take legal action against unscrupulous traders.
The Consumer Council is the trustee of the fund. The management committee assists the Consumer Council in managing the fund and determining the eligibility of applications under the fund.
